Egg
Donation

Intracytoplasmic
Sperm Injection

Egg donation is a family building option for women who are unable to conceive or same-sex couples. When it is difficult to establish pregnancy using a woman’s own eggs, donor egg IVF offers an alternative option.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an advanced fertility technique where a single sperm is directly injected into an egg to enhance fertilization. It’s a highly effective solution for overcoming male infertility challenges, providing couples with a greater chance of achieving pregnancy.

What is Egg Donation?

Egg donation is a family building option for women who are unable to conceive or same-sex couples. When it is difficult to establish pregnancy using a woman’s own eggs, donor egg IVF offers an alternative option. A donor egg allows the recipient to create embryos with a partner’s or donor’s sperm. An  IVF procedure  then allows the embryo recipient woman to carry the pregnancy and deliver a child.

A New Hope in Your
Path to Parenthood

Happy families have extended to include single parents, same-sex couples, and surrogate parents. The fertility specialists at Global Fertility & Genetics in New York openly support third-party reproduction, so the conventional roadblocks to biological parenting are more flexible than ever. Call Global Fertility & Genetics today to explore the options open to you.

Egg Donation helps you get pregnant simply and safely. Many women have already managed to become mothers thanks to this technique, and you can be the next. The donated egg is fertilized with your partner’s semen or with a semen donation. The process is exactly the same as in the case of a conventional In Vitro Fertilization, but the donor will take care of the ovarian stimulation and the recovery.

Whether you’re facing fertility challenges, are older, or are part of a same-sex couple, egg donation can help you create the family you’ve always envisioned. By receiving eggs from a generous donor, you get a boost to help build your family with the latest in reproductive technology. A little bit of extra help can equal a whole lot of hope!

Third Party Reproduction

It is a reproduction method that requires a person other than the parenting couple. This could be through sperm or egg donation. Today, with more partnerships and marriages occurring in the LGBTQ community, there are many family models that don’t include the components to achieve biological conception. The contributions of a third party are necessary to create a viable pregnancy with the biological contribution of at least one member of the parenting couple.

Global Fertility & Genetics offers families of any membership fertility treatment options, including:

  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
  • In Vitro fertilization (IVF)
  • Techniques using donated eggs
  • Techniques using donated sperm
  • Using a gestational carrier, also known as a surrogate mother
Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Egg Donation

What is involved with Egg Donation?

The egg donation process typically involves 5 key steps, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the procedure:

  1. Initial Screening: The donor undergoes a blood test on the 3rd day of their menstrual cycle to check hormone levels. A transvaginal ultrasound helps establish the donor’s reproductive physiology. If initial tests are positive, a psychological screening is conducted to ensure the donor’s readiness.
  2. Advanced Screening: Additional blood tests are done to screen for sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis, drug use, and genetic conditions.
  3. Legal and Financial Agreements: If applicable, legal and financial agreements are handled in this phase to ensure clarity and fairness for both the donor and recipient.
  4. Synchronization with Recipient: The egg donor’s cycle is synchronized with the egg recipient or their surrogate to ensure optimal timing for egg retrieval and implantation.
  5. Egg Harvesting: The donor undergoes the egg retrieval process, which takes approximately 30 minutes under sedation. After the procedure, the donor is monitored during a short postoperative recovery period, and the harvested eggs are made available for fertilization and implantation.
Are there risks to the donation process?

Egg donation is a relatively new procedure, meaning long-term studies are still ongoing. However, many of the steps involved in the process are also used in other fertility treatments, and their risks are well-documented:

  • Fertility Drugs: The main risks involve the use of fertility drugs, which may lead to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) in rare cases. OHSS can cause enlarged ovaries and, in severe cases, blood clots. Although there is a suspected connection between fertility drugs and ovarian cancer, it has not been definitively proven.

Before starting the IVF cycle, both partners typically undergo a series of tests:

  • For Women: Ovarian reserve testing helps establish the quantity and quality of eggs available.
  • For Men: Semen analysis is conducted to determine the health of sperm.
  • Infectious Disease Screening: Both partners are screened for any infectious diseases to ensure safety during the process.
  • Mock Embryo Transfers: This step helps determine the best IVF techniques for the individual case.

At Global Fertility & Genetics, we specialize in advanced techniques such as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) to improve success rates and provide the best possible outcomes.
